Blasts rock Texas chemical plant, posing health hazards
Blasts rock Texas chemical plant, posing health hazards Two explosions were reported at a flooded chemical plant in the US state of Texas on Thursday, as the remnants of tropical storm Harvey moved further east near the Texas-Louisiana line. Richard Rennard, the senior executive of Arkema - the company that owns the plant - warned against the potential health hazards from the release of toxic chemicals from the plant. The company has also said up to eight more containers could catch fire or explode. Harvey, which was downgraded to a tropical depression late on Wednesday, killed at least 31 people and drove tens of thousands from their homes since it first slammed onshore as a Category Four hurricane on Friday night. Al Jazeera's Heidi Zhou-Castro reports from Houston. - Subscribe to our channel: http://ift.tt/291RaQr - Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AJEnglish - Find us on Facebook: http://ift.tt/1iHo6G4 - Check our website: http://ift.tt/snsTgS
